Since 1997, we have built over 150 volunteer projects all over the world. These projects have been developed with the aim to make them beneficial to both our volunteers and for the local people and communities they serve. But in order to truly have a positive impact, we believe projects must be run long term. This is why we work so hard to build projects that are sustainable.
These are our projects… Because we own and operate almost all of our own projects, you know that they make a real and long-term positive difference. You are able to expect the same high quality level of support, safety, training and service from each programme.
We take health and safety more seriously… Feel free to stack any other organisation’s health and safety protocols and procedures against ours. We’re confident ours are more comprehensive.
We are recognised as the best in volunteering… Virgin Holidays Responsible Tourism Awards declared GVI as the world’s best organisation to volunteer with for 2011. According to the award committee: "GVI impressed the judges with the scale of their impacts on the ground. Placing 3,500 volunteers annually in 60 countries, GVI teaches over 10,000 people each year on six continents."
We work with some of the most respected and well-known organisations in the world… We work with some of the top and most prominent conservation and community development organisations in the world. To name just a few; Rainforest Concern, The Jane Goodall Institute, South African National Parks, Kenyan Wildlife Service, The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA), 350.org and The Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society.
A proven track record… Since we began in 1997, we have sent over 10,000 volunteers to work on our projects all over the world. The vast majority describe their experience with us as life-changing with over a 95% approval rating from our volunteers.
